Do I need to register?

You do not need to register.  All classes are open to all students.  If you are new to the studio, welcome!  Drop in any time.

Do I need to have any experience?

Our classes are designed so students of all levels of experience and ability can enjoy class.  It’s common to feel uncertain or shy if you’re new to the studio or to our type of classes.  After attending a few times, or even a few minutes, we hope you’ll feel at home.

Sometimes we’re asked which classes are best for beginners.  Each beginner is different!  Some enjoy a noisy, full class; others prefer a class with fewer people and a less rambunctious atmosphere.  Each teacher brings his or her own take to the movement form.  Learn more about our team to find a teacher who inspires you.

How much does class cost?

It varies by teacher and class type.  Teachers may also offer additional discounts if you purchase a class card.  MOVE! class cards, which allow you to attend classes from any teacher, cost $45 for five classes, and $90 for ten classes.

I have a Groupon.  What do I do?

What should I wear?

Some people wear t-shirts and sweats; others love to wear workout clothes.  Wear whatever is comfortable for you to move and sweat in.

Nia is a barefoot class, so you don’t need special shoes.  Some students prefer to wear shoes.

If you choose to wear shoes for any of the classes at MOVE! (such as MixxedFit), please dust them off before dancing and be sure to wear soft sole shoes such as sneakers.  Some students wear Vibrams or dance slippers.

What should I bring?

If you’re attending a Pilates class, you are welcome to bring your own mats and props.  Mats, blankets, and blocks are on-hand for student use.

Filtered water is available on a complimentary basis in the studio.

What will class be like?  What if I make a fool of myself?  What if I’m late?  What are the rules?

We are pretty darn laid back.  If you’re late, please join in.  Our dance classes encourage playfulness.  While technique is important to what we do, so is nurturing our creativity and honoring our individuality.  Each teacher and each class is unique, so you may want to explore and find the classes and teachers that work best for you.

What if I’m not very flexible? Or coordinated? Or confident?

Would you like to become flexible, coordinated, fit, confident, and joyful?  Classes at MOVE! are a great place to start.  Many of us, including current teachers, began when we were out of shape, or recovering from an injury, or even just stuck in a rut.  If you already are very fit, jam on.  Our classes support you in finding great pleasure in moving.  There is a place in our classes for everyone.

Are the instructors certified?

Yes.  Each teacher is certified in his or her fitness modality.  Read more about our teachers and their expertise.
